HP Smart app on Android
This one is more a ramble in hopes to remind me what to do if this happens again … or find the answer when I google for it and find me own page.
I got my new Pixel 9 Pro and installed all my apps again. I don’t transfer because I use this to also get rid of apps that I actually do not use. Anyways, one of the apps I installed was the HP Smart app for my HP printer (I know, I know. HP.). I started the app, it asked me to allow notifications and then just a white screen with a rotating circle. Wouldn’t start. I uninstalled and installed. Cleared storage. Restarted my phone. Nothing fixed it.
Went to the HP forum to see if I can get help. That was a brilliant idea. Was rather useless because I got asked to power cycle my printer. Really?
Eventually I figured it out myself. I think I had that issue before, because it sounds familiar. All I had to do was go into “App Info » Permissions” and give it all the permissions it did NOT request. There, fixed. It starts now.
